traditional Western medicine and a new
specialty called Integrative medicine (IM).
IM is rooted in Western medicine, but also
uses traditional and complementary healing
techniques (acupuncture, diet, meditation,
etc.) for chronic conditions for which there are
no cures, like arthritis. IM also promotes
heath and tries to prevent illnesses, rather
than treating symptoms.
